Few relationships have as many phases as the parent-child relationship. When it begins, the child relies on their parents for everything—from logistical basics like food, shelter and nurturing to teaching the child all aspects of LIFE! No small feat.

As children grow into adulthood and own more of what was once the parents’ responsibility, the path to adult independence may not be congruent between parent and child.
This can occur across the lifespan and be driven by perceived maturity, impulsivity and mastered resources—on both sides. In this journey, implicit and explicit expectations get set. Resentment from past events can create obstacles for connection.
Finding a path to securely attached relationship between parent and adult child can create a foundation to build a more connected relationship together today. Our Healing Therapy offers a space to steady the conversations into and about the past so the present and future is no longer burdened by it.
